Artist Bio

Exploring philosophy of the mind is at the core of Natalja Heybroek's contemporary artwork. The unexpected intrigue in the refined organic forms connects with the viewer on an experiential level. The art is expressive and emergent, made with intricacy and a sense of movement, mirroring the constant flow of the unconscious mind.

Underlying her work are deliberate elemental concepts, drawn from explorations of consciousness and perception of the self. These elements are in constant movement shape the human experience. These philosophical foundations intertwine with visual expression, reflecting her pursuit of a deeper understanding of the human mind.

Although currently based in Paris, her upbringing was in the creative environment of the Findhorn Foundation Community in rural Scotland; raised by Dutch parents. Her artistic lineage runs deep: her father was a poet, her great uncle the architect Pierre Cuypers - creator of the Rijksmuseum, and her great grandparents were neighbours and friends of the Van Gogh family.
